CONFIDENTIAL 1029 August 2nd.1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}8/AP. The Director of Research, The Insitute of Automobile Engineering, Research Dept, 5 Bolton Road, Chiswick, LONDON W.4. Dear Sir, BRAKE SQUEAKS AND CYLINDER WEAR. We are very much troubled with brake squeak on our Bentley Motor Car, and in view of the work you have been doing, the writer would be very pleased to be given an opportunity to discuss the matter with you at Chiswick. We have your report dated 28.5.35. but we hope you may have some later information. Your apparatus for measuring static and kinetic friction would be of interest because the apparatus we have is not very satisfactory, and we find it essential to know this figure for linings under test. The writer would like to bring Mr.Matthews of this firm with him to discuss cylinder bore wear. We should be pleased to discuss these matters with you any Monday, Wednesday or Friday, at or after 11 o'clock. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
