To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from AJS. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X. 8300 AJS1/M26.6.26. EAC. CLUTCH. We send you herewith LeC.2259 which indicates some additional lightening we can do to the latest design of EAC. clutch without affecting the interchangeibility of the parts. This lightening is indicated in red on the drawing. On the same drawing we have indicated by some green section a reduction in the dia. of the ferodo. A clutch incorporating this feature should be tested as early as possible with the combination of an engine delivering the maximum power it is likely to for some time to come, and the clutch springs in the position of extension before adjustment has been made to counteract the effect of wear on the ferodo. This latter experiment we should like tested and reported upon at the earliest possible moment, in view of the fact that in a new design of clutch we are considering, it will undoubtedly be necessary to reduce the dia. of the fabric and disc.
